EastbayWORKS Regional Workforce Preparation & Economic Development
IEC has joined a consortium of community colleges, private industry councils, school-to-career partnerships, and others which in July, 1998 received a $750,000 multi-agency grant from the State of California to develop greater coordination in workforce development activities between local agencies in the East Bay.

Information Technology as an occupational cluster was identified as a prime focus for the collaborative, and the grant will provide the means to perform occupational profiling, training, and coordination of activities that prepare workers for careers in the sector.  The work will focus on these occupations: Technical Support Specialist, Network Administrator / LAN Manager, Web Developer, and Graphic Designer (digital media).
