Task List
Inspects parts as they are produced using standard gages, micrometers, indicators, and measuring devices, to ensure conformity to specifications. Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following instructions and reporting all unsafe conditions to supervisor. Reports out-of-tolerance parts and machining problems to supervisor, so machines can be adjusted accordingly. Inspects cutting tools for wear to ensure quality of parts, and reports worn tools to supervisor for replacement. Reports machine problems to supervisor to keep machine running. Cleans and services machine tools as necessary, and maintains an orderly area. Observes finish and parts to detect blemishes, scratches, and/or porosity (air pockets and voids). Keep track of number of items produced and number scrapped, to fulfill customer order. Loads and unloads parts, with care, into, and from automatic machine tools, taking care not to distort part in process. Packs outgoing parts to ensure parts do not scratch or dent each other. Reports defective parts to determine acceptability to customer. Follow verbal instructions on how to machine assorted parts on manual and computer numerical control machine tools, to achieve production goals. Records number produced and scrapped, frequency of inspection, and run time, on time card, for accounting purposes. Deburrs parts using standards deburring tools. Receives safety-related instructions from supervisor as a result of safety meetings. Mixes cutting fluids and maintains coolant levels to ensure a steady supply of coolant/cutting fluids to machine.
