Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following all company safety regulations.
Writes technical reports, emails, and memos.
Analyzes plant and experimental data using statistical software, to differentiate between experimental products and assure quality control.
Measures ingredients accurately to minimize error in experiments.
Records visual observations and other data in lab notebook.
Uses software to design experiments and collect data.
Moves data between software applications to manipulate and analyze data.
Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings (marketing, sales, finance and accounting, management, packaging, and manufacturing) to communicate on project issues.
Prepares, combines, and processes raw materials to create a finished product.
Writes process standards, scales up process, communicates info to plant personnel, and conducts a plant qualification (test run).
Orders supplies chemicals and equipment to conduct market research tests, plant qualifications, and experiments.
Assigns tasks to technicians and gives input for performance reviews.
Operates process equipment and machinery (forklifts, pumps, grinders, mixers, stir tanks, press rolls, auger, etc.).
Creates and gives oral presentations.
Initiates and assumes leadership role for market research tests, to organize tasks and meet deadlines.
Installs, sets-up and / or maintains lab equipment including gas cylinders, scales, and moisture analyzers.
Participates in regular continuing education programs (in house and external).
Gathers raw material data to determine compatibility of materials with product formula.
Measures moisture levels and density of product using appropriate equipment.
Performs safety checks including equipment, workspace, work materials, and leak check.
Conducts employment interviews & hosts on-site job candidates.
Makes travel arrangements and prepares expense reports.
Reviews technical articles, journals and books, and the internet, to locate information.
Creates process flow diagrams to document and communicate characteristics of production process.
